Peran Emosi dalam Adaptasi Individu pada Organisasi Multikultural Studi Fenomenologi

2008 | Tesis |This qualitative research which based on phenomenological approach is aimed to recognize the meaning of emotional experience on individual adaptation in multicultural organization. The research is attempted to understand employee’s point of view on adaptation with their attributes. Emotional influence is inevitable as individual joining a multicultural environment. Individual have to adapt to both job and also its working environment which consist of diversity of nationality. The research uses in-depth interview for collecting data. There are four respondents involved. Respondents were selected by “snow-ball” technique and were chosen by theoretical sampling. Phenomenology qualitative research consists of four processes as follow: epoche, phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, and synthesis of meaning. The process of analyzing and interpreting data will include bracketing, horizonalizing, meaning units to gain textural description; imaginative variation to gain structural description; and combine textural description with structural description then structured into universal meaning which represents respondents as a whole. The validity of research results uses intersubjective validity. The research show that individual remain exist by continuosly adapt and act professionaly due since they feel mutualism. In one hand, they deal with difficult situation which then make them adapt because on the other hand they also feel that organization have given them privileges which fulfil their expectation. Individual is consciously realizes that emotional involvement is inevitable in order to deal with new environment. There are motivational states and situational aspects that will then become appraisal in emotional experience. Previous working experience in multicultural environment will facilitate individual to adapt in their new environment. Openess and leadership also involve in emotional experience in adaptation. Emotional influence has become learning in dealing with similar situations in the future. Self-pride has become main aspect which encourage individual to continuously learn and adapt so they can exist in multicultural organization.
