PELATIHAN BERPIKIR POSITIF UNTUK MENGELOLA DEPRESI PADA PENYANDANG CACAT TUBUH

2008 | Tesis |Depression among the physically handicapped person exists due to1) social and cultural movements; 2) the physical handicap suffered; and 3) negatives cognition towards themselves, surrounding and their future. One strategy in managing depression among the physically handicapped is through a method changing their mind set by training of positive thinking in order to manage their depression. This study aims to test the effects resulted from training of positive thinking towards depression management among the physically handicapped. The subject of study consists of those with physical handicap who are following vocational rehabilitation in Balai Besar Rehabilitasi Bina Daksa (BBRVBD) of Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, with following criterion: 1) they have not multiple handicap; 2) congenital and non-congenital handicap/it was happened after birth with maximum 5 years old; 3) BDI test result score above 9 of low, middle, and serious depression category; 4) positive thinking test result score below 3 of pessimist category and very pessimist category. Total subject were 30 people, 15 people were in experiment group given training of positive thinking, while 15 people included to control group given waiting list such a post test game. The technique used in data analysis is Variance Analysis of One Way Mixed 1 Factor (A-Mx-B) which done 3 times towards positive thinking of bad event, good event and depression. Based on the result of Anova summary analysis (inter AB) One Way Mixed 1 Factor (A-Mx-B), it suggests that positive thinking of bad event score is F = 15,107 and p = 0,001, positive thinking of good event score is F = 5,843 and p = 0,021, and depression score is F = 16,633 and p = 0,001. This shows that training of positive thinking has significant effect on depression management among the physically handicapped.
