PENGARUH PROGRAM PENDIDIKAN ASMA TERHADAP KECENDERUNGAN MANAJEMEN ASMA PADA ANAK

Asthma is the most common chronic illness of children. Although medications has develop fast, but prevalence of asthma thesedays increase highly, including in Indonesia. The understanding of children on asthma and the care is not complete yet. Education on asthmatic children is recommended as an essential component of asthma care standart that the children can prevent and manage the symtomp. This research aims to examine whether asthma educational programmes can increase the intention of asthma management on children. 15 asthmatic children from 3 elementary school in Jogjakarta and Surakarta are divided as experiment and control group. Asthma Educational Programmes are given to the experiment group. The Intention of asthma management is measured with the scale. The data analysis uses Mann-Withney U on the pre test and post test gainsscor. The research finds that there are no statistically significant difference between the two groups in intention of asthma management, which is show with z = -1.495, p= 0.135. It can be conclude from this study that asthma educational programmes can not improve the intention of asthma management of asthmatic children.
