2007 | Tesis |The research was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of playing to reducing stress of children who hospitalized. The subject of this research were 6 children who have characteristics : 4 until 6 year old, hospitalized in RSU Banyumas. The subjects were assigned to children was given playing activity in 2 session, each being held in 30 minutes, and children was not given playing activity. Data was collected by using Skala Stres Anak Sakit (SSAS) / Hospitalized Children Stress Scale (HCSS) that maked by researcher, used by rater to observe and interview. The SSAS / HCSS was used to reveal changes in stress before and after the treatment was given and was analyzed by individual analyzes. Observation stress reducing graphics and table showed and qualitatively written to show children’s psychological dynamic. All subject in this research was having stress reduced, both the children was given playing activity and children was not. But the result of the individual analyzes show that stress reduced in children was given playing activity was higher then children was not given playing activity. It’s mean, the playing activity make some deferrences in both. Children was given playing activity showed reduced in stress manifestation like more cooperating, no aggressive or withdrawal behavior, and less sad or screamy expretions. Children was not given playing activity showed reduced stress manifestation like more cooperating, no aggressive or withdrawal behavior, but they still showed many sad, screamy and boring expretions. So, the answer for the research question is not the same as the theories before. The playing activity was reducing stress of children who hospitalized, but many factors must be held, like the kind of illness, hospital’s resources, nursing care, social support, and children’s coping strategy. Then, playing manual must be held the kind of playing tools, children’s habits using the tools, children’s social and culture background, children’s intelligence, and the present of parents or friends.
