HUBUNGAN ANTARA HARGA DIRI, OPTIMISME, DAN DUKUNGAN SOSIAL DENGAN KESEHATAN MENTAL PENYANDANG CACAT

This research aimed to examine the correlation between self esteem, optimisms, social support and the mental health of physically disable person. This study also intended to reveal the difference of physically disable person’s mental health observed from gender, the degree of disability, and when the disability occurred. Purposive sampling was used in this study. The subjects of this study were physically disable person who live in BBRSBD Dr. Soeharso Surakarta for at least a month, their age were between 14 to 30 years, and their disabilities were classified as moderate and light. There were 100 disable persons involved in this research, 60 persons were used for trying out the questionaires and the 40 persons left were used as subject of the research. The results of the regression analysis indicated that: there were a significant and positive correlation between self esteem, optimism and social support mental health. But, the partial analysis found that the optimism and social support were not having role to mental health without stand togethere with self esteem. There were not difference between the mental health observed from gender, the degree of disability, and when the disability occurred. Key words: Self esteem, optimism, social support, mental health
