KONFLIK INTERPERSONAL PADA BOUNDARY ROLE PERSON DI INNA GARUDA YOGYAKARTA

2007 | Tesis |Interpersonal conflict is considered as human in nature and a part of social life. This view is useful for individuals in order to achieve personal maturity. The realization of organizational effectiveness subject to the role of external environments. For this purpose, organizations need representatives. Organizational representatives are in the position to carry the mission and vision of the organization and, at the same time, convey the opinions of the environment as boundary role persons (BRP). This study was carried out by using the qualitative method in a case study. The techniques for collecting data were in-depth interviews and observations to obtain data from six subjects of study. The selection of subjects was performed using a purposive sampling technique. The results of study also indicated a process of psychological dynamic that interpersonal conflicts among the BRPs were caused by different individual characteristics, situation at the workplace, and formal and informal structures of the organization. The resolution of those interpersonal conflicts would be better if supported by the ability to learn from past experiences and work period, much socialization, good adaptation, ability to directly clarify the problems, having clear procedure and description of work, the presence of manager who was helpful on the tasks of the subordinates; appreciated and supported the function of subordinate positions; established a close personal relationship and guided all subordinates; honest and open in resolving conflicts, assumed roles as a mediator; ability of neutralizing emotions and situation in the workplace and had open attitudes, cooperation to maintain conducive work condition, possessed commitments to unite and support each other, meeting with other departments and internal meetings, negotiation, open to communication and discussion to resolve problems, good coordination with other departments, punishment and training, apologize to coworkers, manager, subordinate, and other parties, look at conflicts as positive/constructive things for advancement, control emotions and try to maintain respect, keep praying and be faithful to God. Meanwhile, factors that inhibited the resolution of interpersonal conflicts were lack of flexibility in implementing rules of game, unstable emotion, lack of knowledge, and habit of avoiding problems.
