The aim of this qualitative is to understanding about feeling of uncertainty, risk and hope that occurred employee while the company done downsizing rule and how the strategic they take in facing it. It was intended to develop new theoretically understanding about employee’s psychological dynamic when they feel risk and hope caused by downsizing. The method used in this research is grounded theory method. Data collected consist of both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected by using depth interview, then secondary data collected by using observation and documentation. Chosen purposefully 7 partisipant were involve in this study. The partisipants have work for more than seven years, with the consideration, those employees has the psychological experiences in facing downsizing remembering the downsizing was done four times in last six years. The data analyzed by grounded theory approached such as: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The result of the research showed that employee feels an uncertainty condition in workplace such as; untransparacy and over changing rule, uncertainty of career advancement, and the company usual in quitting employees. Those uncertainty make risk for the employees such as; uncomfort feelings, changing in work relationship, doing a routine behaviour. For some employee had some hope such as; fullfil the life needs, transparacy in company, look the changing as the challenge, lay on God, early pension, and self development. Those hope has the positif effects for the employees which is increasing employee’s motivation, has the future mission and the willingness to build a business by early pension. But, this type of behavior only happened to the employee who has willingness to motivating themself, has a strategic planning and survival strategic in facing the stressors.
