The purpose of this research was to identify the social support and optimism on elderly self reliance and to know the difference gender between man and woman. Data were collected by the self reliance scale, social support scale and optimism scale. The subjek were 68 lansia in area Purwokerto, consisted of 35 mans elderly and 33 womans elderly.
