This research used a qualitative and quantitative methode. The porpuse of qualitative methode was to explore how to the domestic violence happens. This reseach used three informan from the different life background which used the same characteristic with a quantitative methode. the result of qualitative methode found that the causes of the domestic violence is a self mechanism of husband to approve his mistake. the purpose of quantitative methode was to find out effective contribution communication variable with domestic violence. The subjects of this research are the woman whom followed woman service in GKN Filadelfia Yogyakarta. Marital age 5-25 years. There are Christian, study background graduate from elementary school to university education, lived with her husband, the whole subjects are 60 woman. The data were collected by using domestic violence scale, communication scale. The data analysis is done by product moment correlation. The result of the research indicated that there a effective contribution of communication variable -0,572%. The result of domestic violence category from highest score is economy violence, sosial violence, physical violence, phsychology violence and sexual violence, this to have a same score with a qualitative methode. The category of communication variable from highest score is emphaty, listening, openness, honesty and trust. Key words: husband and wife communication, domestic violence.
