KUALITAS HIDUP PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE II DITINJAU DARI EFIKASI DIRI, PERSEPSI DUKUNGAN SOS

The research was aimed to find out the correlation between self-efficacy, perception of social support and active coping strategy with quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. The subjects of this research were 63 patients with type II diabetes mellitus who controlled their blood glucose at the Clinic of Internist Disease Unit of Dr. Soedono Hospital in Madiun. This research used incidental sampling to get the samples. Each participant completed four scales: the self-efficacy scales, the perception of social support scales, the active coping strategy scales and the quality of life scales. Multiple regression analysis was used as a statistical method. The result of this research suggests that : (1) there is a very significant correlation between self-efficacy, perception of social support and active coping strategy with quality of life in patients with type II diabetes me llitus (R = 0.415; p = 0.005); (2) there is very significant correlation between self-efficacy with quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (r = 0.324; p = 0.005); (3) there is no significant correlation between perception of social support with quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (r = 0.093; p = 0.050); and (4) there is no significant correlation between active coping strategy with quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (r = 0.196; p = 0.050). Effective total contributions of self-efficacy, perception of social support and active coping strategy to quality of life is 17.241%, and the greatest contribution is from self-efficacy, 12.403%.
