ANALISIS DIFFERENTIAL ITEM FUNCTIONING TES UAN MATEMATIKA SMP TAHUN PELAJARAN 2003/2004

The objective of this research was to find out: (1) the characteristic of test items of TES UAN Matematika SMP (C3) academic year of 2003/2004, in Kabupaten Temanggung Jawa-Tengah, approached by Item Response Theory (IRT) with three-parameter logistic model, and (2) the test items of Tes UAN Matematika SMP, which statistically significant contained differential item functioning (DIF) in term of the school status and gender groups. The data for the research was the response of SMP students participating on Tes UAN Matematika in the academic year of 2003/2004 of the first package (2) in Kabupaten Temanggung Jawa-Tengah. 2000 students were taken as the sample: 1600 are from the state schools (800 males and 800 females) and 400 students were from private schools (200 males and 200 females). The subjects were taken by proportional random sampling. The test items were calibrated by IRT with 3 parameter logistic model then subjected to the DIF analyses using Item Characteristic Curve (ICC) method, aided by BILOG 3.07 program. To reveal the probability of the correct response in term of school status, gender groups, and uniformity of the DIF, the ICC of the test items containing DIF were drawn using MATHCAD 12 program. The result of the study showed that: (1) In term of the item parameters, there were 38 (95%) test items in medium difficulty level, 1 (2,5%) item in low difficulty level and 1 (2,5%) item in high difficulty level. All of the test items have good item discriminating power , and based on the pseudo-chance level there were 29 (72,5%) test item in low pseudo-chance level and 27,5% test item in high pseudo-chance level. (2) in term of the gender groups, there were 10 test items contained DIF (5 geometric items favoured males ; 4 algebra and 1 geometric items favoured females); (3) in term of the school sta tus, there were 7 items contained DIF, 5 items (4 geometric items and 1 algebra item) favoured students of state schools, and 2 geometric items favoured of private school .
