DETEKSI DIFFERENTIAL ITEM FUNCTIONING PADA PERANGKAT TES SELEKSI PENERIMAAN SISWA BARU SEKOLAH MEN

This study was intended to : (1) investigate the characteristics of the junior high school entrance examinations in 2004/2005 at Karanganyar; (2) identify items containing Differential Item Functioning based on gender difference groups. Data used in this study were responses of examinee’s answer from 4 tests i.e. test of IPS, test of Indonesian Language, test of Mathematic, and test of IPA. The subjects were 1759 examinees, consisting of 843 male and 916 female students. Items used in the process of detecting DIF had been filtered through item analysis, both classical and modern. Method for revealing DIF items was conducted by using Likelihood Ratio Test Method, and this analysis was supported by BILOG 3.07 computer program. Items statistically containing DIF had been visualized by MATHCAD 11 Enterprise Edition computer program. The results of study were (1) Most items of the entrance examinations have moderate discrimination power and could be classified as having low difficulty index, (2) There were 57 items out of 80 (or 71.25%) that were accepted according to classical and modern criteria; (3) There were 14 items out of 57 (or 24.56%) that contained DIF; (4) There were 4 items favored male and 10 items favored female students.
