PELATIHAN TEAM BUILDING : SEBUAH RANCANGAN INTERVENSI UNTUK MENGATASI MASALAH KOMUNIKASI DI PT SI

Communication that covers all human activities is play an important part to run an organization. Effective communication may result in an effective organization. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the contribution of communication on the lackness of organizational structure understanding, job description, and company regulation within employees of PT Sinar Sukses Sentosa; as well as to set up an intervention design which could solve these problems. This study is started with a preliminary research before entering the first step of the action research by in-depth interview on five employees of PT Sinar Sukses Sentosa as well as situational observation of working environment in the factory and headquarters. The lack of organizational structure understanding, job description, and company regulation were some of the problems found during this research. In order to answer the problems, an action research method, which consists of seven steps, is used. The steps are as follows: (1)identifying a problem; (2) collecting data;(3) analyzing data; (4) planning action steps; (5) implementing action steps; (6) collecting data to monitor change; (7) analysis and evaluation. The problems that found in the preliminary research were developed as the basis for data collection. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method was used for data collection and performed on 14 employees who were divided into three groups. Data analysis result showed that communication has contribution on the lackness of organizational structure understanding and job description within employees of PT Sinar Sukses Sentosa, but doesn’t contribute on company regulation. An intervention design for team building training is generated to solve these communication problems. The training will be conducted for all levels of employees, from the board of directors to operational employees totaling of 32 personnel. In order to measure training effectiveness, evaluation will be performed twice by requiring the employees to fill up communication-teamwork questionnaire. The first evaluation will be conducted one day before the training, and the second will be conducted two months after the training. The result from the evaluation will be analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the intervention to the communication problem and to identify other problems that may arise.
