2005 | Tesis |Narcotics, psychotropics, and additives are needed in health service, but their abuse can result in drug-addicted and physical, psychological, and behavioral disorders. Drug abuse is largely committed by SMU students because they are still searching for self -identity, have high curiosity, easily influenced by the environment, and have misleading opinion about the effects of drug abuse. The purpose of this research is to obtain empirical data concerning the relationship of stress, problem-oriented coping strategy (PFC), emotion-oriented coping strategy (EFC), and family support, simultaneously or individually, and the tendency of drug abuse among the youth. Research procedure: (1) preparation (preliminary research, measurement tools, administration, coordination); (2) implementation (tests for drug abuse tendency scale, stress scale, coping PFC strategy scale, EFC coping strategy scale, and family support scale for 101 students to obtain their validity and reliability. Valid and reliable items were used as measurement tools for 302 students. Samples were taken in a cluster-random way. It was a correlational research using quantitative (Hypothesis Testing) and Point Time approaches. Results: Categorization of Narcotics, Psychotropics and Additives Abuse (15.56% moderate, 64.57% low); Stress (17.880% moderate, 65.563% low); Coping PFC Strategy (52.649% high, 32.450% moderate); Coping EFC Strategy (39.735% high, 56.291% moderate) and Family Support (50.331% high, 29.139% moderate).
