HUBUNGAN ANTARA KOMPETENSI SOSIAL DAN KECERDASAN EMOSI DENGAN PRESTASI AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA TAH

Five problems that were discussed in this research. The first was the relationship between social competence with academic achievement in first year university student. The second was the relationship between emotional intelligence with academic achievement in first year university student. The third was the differences in social competence between male and famale students. The fourth was the differences in emotional intelligence between male and famale students. The fith was the differences in academic achievement between male and famale students. There 99 subject that participated by purposive technique in this research. They were students of Yogyakarta State University in first year. The data were collected by using social competence scale, emotional intelligence scale and rating academic achievement in first year university student. All data were analysed by SPSS for windows 10.0. The result of this research showed that: There was positive correlation between social competence with academic achievement in first year university student. By the Regression analyzis, showed Pearson product moment correlation, r = 0.227 ; p = 0.012. There was positive correlation between emotional intelligence with academic achievement. By the Regression analyzis, showed Pearson product moment correlation r = 0.168 ; p = 0.049 .There was negative differences in social competence between male and famale students. By t test showed Equal variance not assumted t =-1.195 ; p = 0.235 . There was negative differences in emotional intelligence between male and famale students. By t test showed Equal variance not assumted t = -1.385 ; p = 0.169. There was negative differences in achademic achievement between male and famale students. By t test showed Equal variance not assumted t = -1.513 ; p = 0.134.
