This study was aimed to measure the effect of empathy and judgment on hurtful event toward forgiveness in close relationships. Forgiveness was assessed by forgiveness scale. Empathy was assessed by adaptation of the interpersonal reactivity index (IRI Davis, 1983). Judgment on hurtful event was assessed by judgment on hurtful event scale. The subjects of this research were 190 undergraduate (S1) student at Department of Psychology Gadjah Mada University. The range of age was between 19-22 years old. Multiple regression yielded significant effect (F=6,850; p=0,001 and R2=0,068). Empathy actually revealed positive contribution on forgiveness (B=0,214). The effect of judgment on hurtful event was positive contribution toward forgiveness (B=0,174).
