Abstract The objectives of this research is to know the relationship between early adolescents perception of authoritarian parents and achievement motivation. The subject of this research were 200 students at The Public Junior High School I Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar. The data of the study was collected by using two questionnaires of perception of authoritarian parents, and achievement motivation. The data was then analysed by Product Moment Correlation Technique. The values obtained from the analysis were r = -0,152, p = 0,032, meaning that there were a negative correlation between perception of authoritarian parents and achievement motivation. Based on the finding above, it is suggested that parents should develop some other parental upbringing which can enhance achievement motivation. The research revealed the necessity for other researchers to conduct further investigation of parental upbringing suitable for another community, which may enhance adolescent positif developmental aspects.
