GENERAL FACTOR IS ABLE TO BE DISCOVERED BASED ON INTELLEGENCE THEORY OF CATTELL Suparman & Sumadi Suryabrata2 Abstract This research is intended to investigated general factor that is able to be discovered based on intelligence theory of Cattel by using CFIT scale three form B, to investigate the proportion of general factor that is able to be discovered by CFIT scale three form B, to investigate the most significantly subtest in discovering general factor. This research took the population from all client coming in Institution of Applied Psychology Study and Development (Lembaga Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Psikologi Terapan) Airlangga University Surabaya, that were tested by using CFIT scale three form B specifically the sample are 187 subject consisting of the client receiving consultation by using CFIt scale three form B from 2001 to 2003. This research use analysis of validity test with product moment correlation of Carl Pearson, reliability test by KR-20 method, factor analysis by rotation of principle axis factoring method, and eigen value as a parameter to terminated factor extraction. The result of factor analysis either before and after rotation found two factors, so that rotation did not chage the interpretation. It can be concluded that CFIT scale three form B is able to discover general factors. Quantitatively, this instrument has ability to measure general factor of 56,25%. Every single subtest has contribution in certain proportion. Subtest one contributes of 11,5%, subtest two 21,3%, subtest three 13,3% and subtest four 8,3%. It can be seen that the subtest two has the biggest contribution of 21,3%, while on the other hand the smallest contribution comes from subtest four as 8,3%.
