GAYA PENGASUHAN AUTHORITATIF, PERKEMBANGAN KOGNISI DAN GENDER TYPING ANAK

2004 | Tesis |Abstract In this study both independent variables i.e. authoritative parenting style and cognition development correlated with gender typing in child. Authoritative parenting style was assessed by Authoritative Parenting Scale. Cognition development was assessed by adaptation of Piagets’ Tasks which measured seriation, classification and conservation skills. Gender typing was assessed by Gender Typing Interview. Thirty children aged 6 to 7 years (mean age =6.3 years) were recruited from a kindegarten and an elementary school in Gedangan, Tuntang. Their mothers committed too in this research to complete the Authoritative Parenting Scale. Multiple regression yielded significant effect; R=0.482; F=4.088; R2 0.232; db=2 and p=0.027. It shows that authoritative parenting style and cognitive development were good predictors for childrens’ gender typing, the first hypothesis can be accepted. There is no significant effect between authoritative parenting style and gender typing; r=0.229; p>0.05 (p=0.222). Partial regression between authoritative parenting style and gender typing by controlling cognition development yielded; r=-0.208; p>0.05 (p=0.277). The second hypothesis couldn’t be accepted. This variable alone is not good predictor for childrens’ gender typing (SE=4.277%). The cognition development actually revealed significant correlation with gender typing; r=0.445; p
