Child maltreatment is an extremely complex social problem. There is no single explanation for child maltreatment because it caused by a complex combination of personal, social and cultural factor. Maltreatment occurs within all family types and all segments of the population regardless of differences in religion ethinicity, race, class or gender. Parent is one of the major factors which increase the probability or maltreatment occuring in child's life so this research has been done on parental factor, especially lying on the well-being of parents. The purpose of the research was to find out the relationship between the psychological well-being of parents and child maltreatment. The subject of this research were 100 parents in Yogyakarta who had children of age 11 to 13 years old. The instruments of data collecting consisted of identity questionnaire for parents and children, psychological well-being of parents scale, child maltreatment scale in parent's version and child maltreatment in child's version. Mainly the research was done using quantitative method and afterwards was depended by a qualitative method which are observation, interview and focus group discussion. Quantitative data was analyzed using correlation technique and regression analysis as an additional. The qualitative data was analyzed following a set of qualitative analysis steps. The result ensured that hypothesis is accepted, as showed by the significantly negative correlation between psychological well-being of parents and child maltreatment with (r) -0,718 for father's group and (r) - 0,779 for mother's group.
