To Increase hydrocarbon production, sandstone reservoir characterization has been done on Main Formation. Research on the field "Secha”, Main Formation, North West Java Basin is lithology laminated claystone and sandstones with limestone inserts. Horizon QS-1 tops and horizon QS-2 top are sandstone that act as reservoirs of hydrocarbons. The method used in reservoir characterization is acoustic impedance inversion models based method. The results of the analysis of acoustic impedance inversion will generate pseudo acoustic impedance volume. The result of acoustic impedance inversion was used to identify the sandstones distributions, depositional facies, and to determine the location of development well in Secha field. Based on the analysis of acoustic impedance inversion, the reservoir in the QS-1 has a range acoustic impedance values of 11000-16000 (ft/s) * (g/cc), a density of 2.00 to 2.15 g/cc and effective porosity of 0.25 – 0.29 fraction and reservoir sandstones in the QS-2 has a range acoustic impedance values of 13000- 17000 (ft/s) * (g/cc), a density of 2.00 to 2.30 g/cc and effective porosity of 0.24 – 0.27 fraction. Distribution acoustic impedance map shows that the pattern of sandstone oriented north- to south. The shape of the patterns of sandstones is a linear pattern with a length of approximately 2 km. MAQ-6 well is recommended as the next development wells. Because the zone is at a low impedance values, high porosity values and are at the highest structure allow the trapped hydrocarbons. The coordinates for the well MAQ-6 is x,y (9374000,305500) to the reservoir sandstones in the QS-1 and QS-2.
