Avocado is a fruit that can not ripen on the tree. Avocado will lead maturation process a few days after being picked from the tree. In the process of checking the ripeness of an avocado in general simply by using hands predict whether an avocado is ripe. In addition, how to determine the ripeness is use tools that destruct or damaging avocado. This research aims is to design a tool that can detect ripeness of an avocado using non-destructive method. The method used by writer is observing the reflected ultrasonic waves are emitted into the avocado. The amplitude of reflected ultrasonic wave will be observed. By using a sine wave at 40 KHz wave will be forwarded to the transmitter that will be transmit the ultrasonic waves. Then the reflection of ultrasonic wave results will be accepted by the receiver. Amplifier circuit will work to strengthen the results of the received wave receiver. Then the reflected waves after amplified will be displayed by the oscilloscope. This study shows that the more ripe avocado then the amplitude of the reflected waves will decrease. The amplitude of unripe avocado fruits was measured at 6,1 V then decrease until 3,91 V at the ripe avocado fruits. On the wave attenuation, the more ripe avocado will increase the value of attenuation of ultrasonic waves. The attenuation of unripe avocado fruits was measured at 2,35 dB then decrease until 6,09 dB at the ripe avocado fruits.
