SINTESIS KOMPOSIT ZEOLIT-MAGNETIT SEBAGAI ADSORBEN CEPAT PISAH ION Cd2+; SYNTHESIS OF ZEOLITE-MAGNETITE COMPOSITE AS FAST SEPARATION ADSORBENT FOR Cd2+ION

2016 | Skripsi | FMIPAThe synthesis zeolite-magnetite composite to obtain adsorbent having magnetic property and its application to the adsorption of Cd2+ ion has been performed. Two grams of activated natural zeolite powder were added into a solution containing a mixture of Fe2+ and Fe3+ with a molar ratio of 1: 2. Solution of NH4OH was added to the mixture to achieved pH as high as 11.0 at 85 ?C. The formed precipitate was filtered, washed and dried at 100 ?C for 1 hour. Zeolite-magnetite composite then was characterized using infrared spectrometer, x-ray diffractometer and nitrogen autosorption. The product of the synthesis were used to adsorp Cd2+ in the solutions at pH 5.0. The rate (k) and stability (K) constants were studied using pseudo second-order kinetic model where the rate constant of adsorption was found to be 1.55 g/mg min. Recovery test after its application showed that the zeolite-magnetite composite required a faster time than the activated zeolite.
