North East Java Basin is one of the proven basin in Java Island which has a hydrocarbon potential in it. Its stratigraphic information shows that Ngrayong Formation, which is complied by alternating sandstone, limestone and shale, has the potential to become a good reservoir. Therefore, a research is conducted to analyze the physical character sandstone in Ngrayong Formation, North East Java Basin. Several data such as well log data, seismic data, and geological data were used to completing this research. Inverse Density (Psuedo Density) and Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) analysis applied to characterize the sandstone reservoir in Ngrayong Formation. The application of Density inversion aims to discriminate the sandstone reservoir from the other bed rock , whereas the application of AVO analysis is aiming to identify the existence of hydrocarbon. The result of Density inversion shows that the sandstone reservoir has an density range of 2,16 – 2,26 (gr/cc). The other one is AVO analysis shows the presence of hydrocarbon in sandstone reservoir with positif anomaly.
