Communication is one of crusial things in human life as a social creature. But not everyone can communicate as common people do. Such as deafs and speech disorders, they use sign language to communicate. The language difference between common people with deafs and speech disorders makes communication to be not communicative. By technology development, one of those is image processing, the problem can be few solved. Thresfore, this research can be helpful to bridge communication between common people with deafs and speech disorders who use ASL (American Sign Language) as language media. In this research, first, the problem is solved by detecting skin color using HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) method in segmentation process. Then the segmented image is extracted the feature by PCA (Principal Component Analysist) method, and then one of outputs of PCA, eigen value, be become feature of each image. Classification process in this research used Mean Nearest Neighbor method. Testing process used 75 images as training data and 50 images as testing data. The result of segmentation test showed 94,4% in accuracy and the result of classification showed 46,67% for training data and 34% for testing data.
