PEMBUATAN NANOFIBER KITOSAN-PVA-i-KARAGINAN DAN PEMANFAATANNYA SEBAGAI ADSORBEN BIRU METILEN; SYNTHESIS OF CHITOSAN-PVA-i-CARRAGEENAN NANOFIBER AND ITS UTILIZATION AS ADSORBENT FOR METHYLENE BLUE

The chitosan-PVA-i-carrageenan nanofiber has been synthesized and used to study the adsorption and desorption of methylene blue. The nanofiber was obtained by electrospinning. The solution that comprised of 1 mL of 1% (w/w) i–carrageenan and 8 mL of 15% (w/w) PVA and 1 mL of 1% (w/w) chitosan and crosslinked with glutaraldehyde. The nanofiber was characterized by FTIR and SEM. The stability of nanofiber in the acid-base medium and the ability to adsorb water were analyzed. The adsorption activities of nanofiber films toward methylene blue were also studied, including the effect of time, pH, concentration of methylene blue, adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherm. The desorption activities of nanofiber has been conducted in NaCl solution and akuabidest. The FTIR result showed that nanofiber have been successfully synthesized. Based on the surface morphology result, uniform and ultrafine electrospun nanofiber without any beads was obtained.The optimum adsorption condition of methylene blue with the value of 65,65 mg g-1 was achieved at pH 8 for 40 minutes. Optimum desorption capacity of 18.51 mg L-1 in 1.0 M of NaCl solution. Adsorption kinetics followed pseudo second order with Langmuir isotherm.
