2016 | Disertasi | FMIPAA research about synthesis of polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan/iota?carrageenan nanofiber for the adsorbent of Pb(II) and Cu(II) has been done. Nanofiber has been obtained by electrospinning method using volume ratio of PVA:chitosan:iota?carrageenan (8:1:1) with the concentration of 15%:1%:1%. The nanofiber synthesized was then characterized by SEM and FTIR. Some parameters examined in this study were water absorption capacity, medium acidity, contact time, pH, variation of concentration, adsorption kinetics, adsorption isotherms, study of desorption, adsorption constants and energy adsorption. The SEM and FTIR analyze for showed the longitudinal section and the image of nanofiber surface and the contents of fungtional groups. The SEM results showed that the nanofiber has been successfully synthesized. The FTIR characterization results showed vibration at 1605, 849 and 1728 cm?1 which indicated the existence of ?NH2, ?OSO3? and O?C?NH2, respectively. Adsorption of Pb(II) was done at optimum pH of 5, for contact time of 30 minutes and the optimum concentration was at 175 mg L?1. The adsorption of Cu(II) was at pH 6, contact time of 50 minutes and the optimum concentration of 40 mg L?1. Adsorption of Pb(II) followed Langmuir isotherm with adsorption capacity of 21 mg g?1, adsorption constant (K) of 1505,455 L mol?1 and adsorption energy of 18,25 kJ mol?1. For Cu(II), adsorption capacity of 5,7 mg g?1, the value of adsorption constant (K) 1086,1 L mol?1 and the adsorption energy is 17,4 kJ mol?1. Desorption studies for both metal ions showed that desorption with sodium?EDTA has the largest percentage compared to HNO3, KNO3 and aquabidest.
