2016 | Skripsi | FMIPASynthesis of mesoporous carbon (KM) from bovine bone gelatin as carbon precursor and Co/mesoporous carbon (Co/KM) as hydrocracking catalysts of waste lubricant have been carried out. The aim of this work is to study characters of the KM and Co/KM as catalysts in hydrocracking of waste lubricant into gasoline and diesel fraction. Gelatin was extracted from bovine bone pretreated with 4.0% CH3COOH, 0.1 M NaOH, and 1.0 M HCl. The KM was synthesized using SBA-15 template and bovine bone gelatin as carbon precursor. The Co/KM sample was synthesized by impregnating of Co metal from Co(NO3).6H2O solution into the KM using wet impregnation method. The KM sample was analyzed using infra red spectrophotometer (FT-IR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and gas sorption analyzer (GSA). The Co/KM sample was analyzed using GSA and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The acidity of both samples were analyzed by gravimetric method using ammonia as the base adsorbate. The catalytic activity test of both samples were performed for hydrocracking of waste lubricant into gasoline and diesel fraction that analyzed using gas chromatography-mass sprectroscopy (GC-MS). The result showed that the KM sample has hexagonal pore structure with surface area, total pore volume, pore diameter, and acidity of 743.22 m2/g, 1.17 cm3/g, 3.85 nm, and 4.56 mmol/g, respectively. The Co/KM which contained Co metal of 0.14% (w/w) has surface area, total pore volume, pore diameter, and acidity each of 702.68 m2/g, 1.05 cm3/g, 3.82 nm,and 4.78 mmol/g, respectively. The Co/KM showed the highest catalytic activity in producing of liquid product of 36.45% consist of gasoline and diesel fraction of 43.71% and 56.29%.
