“Tanggamus” field is located in the Talang Akar Formation on the north west Java basin. This field has a lot of potential hydrocarbon. Elastic impedance inversion method was used to identify the sandstones distribution of hydrocarbon reservoir in the layer Z-2260 of Talang Akar Formation with lithology of sandstones embedded with shale. In this study 25º is the most sensitive angle for the inversion to differentiate the lithology between sandstones and shale. The result of elastic impedance map analysis using 25º reveals that the sandstones reservoir are displays north – south direction. Elastic impedance value ranges are 2040 – 2600 (m/s)2*gr/cc. Based on analysis cylindrical shape of gamma ray log, and based on slicing of elastic impedance inversion results, the depostional environment is delta with sediment dominated.
