SINTESIS KATALIS Cr-Al2O3-BENTONIT UNTUK PROSES HIDRORENGKAH MINYAK SAWIT; SYNTHESIS OF CHROM-Al2O3-PILLARED BENTONITE CATALYST FOR PALM OIL HYDROCRACKING

2016 | Skripsi | FMIPAThe synthesis of Cr-Al2O3-pillared bentonite catalyst for palm oil hydrocracking to be hydrocarbon derivatives has been performed. The purposes of this study are to synthesize Cr-Al2O3-bentonite catalyst, to study phyicochemical characters of the catalyst, and to test the ability of Cr-Al2O3-bentonite catalyst for palm oil hydrocracking. The research began with synthesizing Cr-Al2O3-bentonite catalyst, followed by catalytic testing of the catalyst for palm oil hydrocracking. First, bentonite was dispersed into solution of HF 1%, then the bentonite was mixed with H2SO4 1,2M. The acid activated bentonite then was pillarized with using Al(OH)3, finally the Al2O3-pillared bentonite was impregnated with chromium. The catalyst then was tested to hydrocrack palm oil. Chrom-Al2O3- pillared bentonite catalyst was analyzed using AAS, XRD, FT-IR, XRF, BET, TEM and the product of hydrocracking was analyzed using GC-MS. The result showed that the process activation, pillaring, and impregnation have changed the physicochemical characters of the bentonite. Pillarization process resulted in decreasing of the surface area from 109.182 m2/g to be 108.759 m2/g, whereas after impregnating the surface area decreased to be 84.052 m2/g due to the insertion of chrom in the cavity of bentonite catalyst. Catalysts of Cr-Al2O3- bentonite has acidity of 4.02 mol/g. Results of palm oil hydrocracking with the catalyst produced solid, liquid and gas phases. Liquid product containing 2 fractions and the dominant fractions of the mixture were gasoline and diesel oil.
