2016 | Skripsi | FMIPASynthesis of composite paper using natadecoco as raw material for tensile strength engineering has been done. The synthesis was started by immersing natadecoco in NaOH solution and then followed by reaction in iron(II) solution. The resulted wet composite natadecoco was dried in oven at 70 °C to produce the composite paper. The composite paper was characterized using spectrophotometer Fourier Transform Infrared, X-ray diffractometer, Scanning Electron Microscope with Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, and mechanical testing machine. Variation of NaOH and iron(II) weight was carried out in order to study the tensile strength effect on composite paper. X-ray diffraction pattern of composite paper indicated the presence of natadecoco as cellulose 1ß and iron oxide compound. Infrared spectea of composite paper showed the presence of cellulose functional groups. EDX pattern also indicated the presence of iron compound from the iron. Composite papers synthesized with iron(II) 0.56 g and increasing base weight from 0.50 to 1.50 g were increased the tensile strength from 31.924 to 77.416 MPa. The iron content in the composites with NaOH weight varied from 0.50 to 1.50 g decreased from 7.69% to 1.33%. However, the opposite trend was shown from composite papers synthesized with base 1.50 g and iron(II) weight varied from 0.6 to 1.8 g were decreased the tensile strength from 89.142 to 45.850 MPa. The composite papers with iron(II) weight varied from 0.6 to 1.8 g increased iron content from 0.70% to 10.01%. Based on the result, increasing weight ratio of iron(II)/base decreased the tensile strength of composite paper.
