STUDI TOKSISITAS Cu(II) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN SEL DAN KANDUNGAN KLOROFIL-a Isochrysis sp.; STUDY OF Cu(II) TOXICITY TO GROWTH CELL AND CHLOROPHYLL-a CONTENT OF Isochrysis sp.

A research on the study of Cu(II) toxicity to growth cell and and chlorophyll-a content of Isochrysis sp. had been conducted. This research was conducted to determine IC50-96 hour value of Cu(II) on Isochrysis sp., the exposure effect of Cu(II) on the growth, the solubilty of Cu(II) in artificial sea water and the effect of Cu(II) concentration on the amount of chlorophyll-a. This research was conducted through several steps i.e: Cu(II) toxicity test based on standard method from Asean Canada Cooperative Program on Marine Science Phase II (ACCPMS-II), and chlorophyll-a test using fluorometer turner trilogy type AU-10. The result showed that IC50-96 hour of Cu(II) on the microalgae Isochrysis sp. is 111.88 ?g L-1. The exposure of Cu(II) hampered the growth of microalgae Isochrysis sp. The increase in cell inhibition is proportional with the increasing concentration of Cu(II). The decrease in the concentration Cu(II) is attributed to the absorption of microalgae Isochrysis sp.,the bonding of anions species, and the effect of sea water pH. The amount of chlorophyll-a microalgae Isochrysis sp. decreases as the exposed concentration of Cu(II) is raised.
