Nitrogen-doped TiO2 nanotube has been synthesized by a reflux as doping method. The aim of this research is to study the effect of acid treatment as a pretreatment of doping method on morphology, crystalline phase, and nitrogen doping. Titanate nanotubes were synthesized by hydrotermal method then the sample was divided into 2 groups, the first group was treated by acid and the second group was not treated by acid. After that, these samples have been doped by N via reflux method. These samples were characterized by XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope), FT-IR (Fourrier Transform-Infra Red), GSA (Gas-Sorption Analyzer), and DR-UV-vis (Diffuse Reflectance–Ultra Violet-visible). The results showed that acid treatment had a significant effect on anatase phase formation but it could destroy the nanotubular into nanorod morphology. Furthermore, acid treatment could prevent the N doping. The energy band gap of the sample with acid treatment is 3.20 eV and the sample without acid treatment is 3.17 eV. The specific surface area of the doping sample with nanotubular morphology is 106.07 m2 g-1 and the pore diameters are about 3.75 and 15.65 nm.
