2016 | Skripsi | FMIPAA research concerning foraminifera Ammonia beccarii as bioindicators of heavy metal pollution in aquatic environments had been conducted. This research had three main purposes. First, this study was aimed to evaluate the effects of environmental pollution against the morphology of foraminifera Ammonia beccarii. Second, to study the types of sediment with the grain size analysis and the influence on the habitat of Ammonia beccarii. The last one is to investigate the content of chemical elements qualitatively by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) on Ammonia beccarii as bioindicators of environmental pollution in Jakarta Bay and Batam coast. Several stages were conducted in this research. First of all, sampling had been conducted in the Jakarta Bay and Batam coast. After that, samples were leached for the analysis of foraminifera Ammonia beccarii, and the sediment samples were sieved for grain size analysis. After all, the identification of Ammonia beccarii using microscopy and analysis of it using SEM and EDX was conducted. The results showed that Ammonia becarii was found in the Jakarta Bay and Batam coast at the stations that have type of fine sediment. Here in Jakarta Bay, abudance of 255 individuals of Ammonia beccarii were found, which consists of 178 with normal shell and 79 with abnormal shell. In Batam coast, 19 individuals consist of 5 with normal shell and 14 with abnormal shell shape were found. The changes of the shell morphology could be seen with SEM analysis. EDX analysis results on the shell Ammonia beccarii showed that it contained chemical elements such as Si, Ti, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn. Metal content in the shell of Ammonia becarii was qualitatively showed that there was pollution in the of Jakarta Bay and Batam coast.
