PROXY CACHE BERBASIS PEER TO PEER UNTUK APLIKASI BITTORRENT MENGGUNAKAN TRACKER UDP; PEER TO PEER PROXY CACHE FOR BITTORRENT APPLICATION USING UDP TRACKER

2015 | Disertasi | FMIPABitTorrent is a peer to peer protocol designed for file sharing. All peer connected to BitTorrent network is responsible for distributing file. In order to find another peer, BitTorrent using a component called tracker. TCP based tracker use more traffic resource, and some tracker provider switched to UDP based tracker. BitTorrent based application use a lot of traffic resources on Internet, because every peer in BitTorrent network has functionality as a client and as a server. Research for minimalize BitTorrent traffic to upstream network using UDP tracker is already conducted. We developed peer to peer proxy cache for BitTorrent application. The system use an internal tracker and internal peer. Peer inside local network is directed to internal tracker and contact internal peer transparantly. Peer to peer proxy cache system can reduce the total amount of BitTorrent data transfer to upstream network up to 80%. However, peer to peer proxy cache system is not always able to reduce download time for peer in local area network.
