2015 | Disertasi | FMIPAA research the comparative analysis on 3-D seismic tomography images of internal structure beneath Merapi Volcano before and after eruption 2010 with 4 seismographs and volcanic earthquakes as seismic sources wave has been done. This study has used software LOTOS-10 (Local Tomography Software 10) to inverse 3D seismic tomography. The characteristic of Merapi volcano medium are primer and secondary of seismic velocity. The seismic tomography study at Merapi Volcano provides good results in which the internal structure of the volcano can be imaged precisely from the tomogram image of the Lotos-10 programs such as the deviation of velocity. Based on the image analysis of tomogram, negative velocity anomaly beneath Merapi Volcano undergo extensive changes in dimension and volume or there has been occurred a migration of massive magma chamber into the pockets of magma before eruption in 2010. Zone of negative anomalies obtained lies below the peak of Mount Merapi at a depth of 3-5 km has a physical character that is weak zone, less compact, heat and heterogeneous. Physical characteristics of the anomalous area are weak, unconsolidated, hot material, and heterogeneous. This zone is interpreted to be associated with hot materials that may indicate the magma chamber.
