Some institutions install CCTV (Closed-circuit Television) connected to the security control center in its security system. The main disadvantage of such systems is quite large dependence on human operators are usually decreased after observing monitor efficiency in the long term. In this study created a system which is able to count the number of people on a periodic video streaming using digital image processing In this study, the system detects the presence of the head as a reference in calculating the number of people who exist in a room. Methods to identify a human head is by using Haar Cascade Classifier. This approach to detect objects by combining several concepts where the results of Haar Cascade Classifier is a collection of objects and their window position. ROS in this study is used to receive video input and then transfer them to the program counter so that the counting process can be accelerated by adjusting the published rate. System testing is done in a variety of conditions with the conditions of the room and the lights on. Obtained from the testing system is unable to detect the system if the angle between the camera with too diagonal. Flicker on the video raises error detection. The worst performance obtained in crowded conditions with the uneven distribution. The system is only able to calculate the maximum of 12 people. Number of threads used on the node for calculating the number 9 and the readout node number 10. The video RAM memory in use on the node for a video reading of 2.61% to 2.89% and the node for the calculation of 1, 74% up to 2.02%. Total normal CPU processing load on the node for a video reading of 42% to 56% and the node for the calculation of 271% to 282%.
