2015 | Skripsi | FMIPAA study on dithizone immobilization on coal bottom ash from PLTU Pacitan, East Java for simultaneous adsorption of Zn(II) and Ca(II) metal ions has been conducted. The research was started by analysis of coal bottom ash using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The result of dithizone-immobilized coal bottom-ash was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. In the adsorption study, pH, mass of adsorbent, interaction time and initial concentration of Zn(II) were examined. Coal bottom ash has main components of SiO2 and Al2O3. FTIR and XRD’s data suggest that dithizone has been succesfully immobilized on actived coal bottom-ash. The simultaneous adsorption of Zn(II) and Ca(II) metal ions shows the optimum conditions for Zn(II) adsorption at pH 6, mass of adsorbent 0.2 g, interaction time 45 minutes and initial concentration of Zn(II) 20 ppm for both dithizone-immobilized coal bottom ash and activated coal bottom ash. The parameter of adsorption kinetics of dithizon-immobilized coal bottom ash and activated coal bottom ash follow pseudo-second orde model with the adsorption rate constant (k) of 2.48 and 2.92 g mg-1 minute-1, respectively and the equibrilium constant (K) were 5.25 × 104 and 6.12 × 104 L mol-1 respectively. The parameter of adsorption isoterm of dithizon-immobilized coal bottom ash and activated coal bottom ash follow Langmuir model with the adsorption capacity of 7.63 × 10-6 and 6.42 × 10-6 mol g-1 and the adsorption energy of 26.31 and 27.30 kJ mol-1
