2015 | Skripsi | FMIPASilver nanowires (AgNWs) have been successfully synthesized by using polyol method. In this study, the synthesis of AgNWs using silver nitrate (AgNO3) as a precursors, ethylene glycol (EG) as a solvent and a reductant, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as a capping agent and a stabilizer, and without adding halide salts. The process was carried out by varying the stirring rates of 125, 350, 500, 700, and 1100 rpm, and all other parameters such as concentration of PVA and AgNO3, temperature, and injection rate were in constant condition. As the results of characterization using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the optimal AgNWs formed at stirring rate of 350 rpm, with a diameter of (1,9 ± 0,4) × 102 nm and length (8 ± 2) × 104 nm. For the synthesis with stirring rate of 500 and 700 rpm produced silver nanorods (AgNRs) in diameter and length respectively (7 ± 2) × 102 nm and (2 ± 1) × 104 nm, and (10 ± 3) × 102 nm and (1,9 ± 0,5) × 104 nm. As for the stirring rate of 125 and 1100 rpm only produced silver particles with the diameter of (20 ± 3) × 102 nm and (29 ± 6) × 102 nm. As the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed AgNWs formed has a high degree of crystallinity, with its crystal structure is face center cubic (fcc). Results of UV-vis spectrum of AgNWs showed plasmon peak at wavelength about 358 nm. The results of infrared spectrum indicated that PVA interact with AgNWs surface through Ag-O coordination bonding.
