An air flow control system electronic nose dynamic model was designed for draining the aroma of the sample chamber into the sensor chamber. The processes that must be considered in aroma measurement of dynamic model enose are flushing, collecting, and purging process. From the optimal timing of those three processes will be obtained sensor signal response which can be used for further processing such as preprocessing and pattern recognition. Therefore an automatic air flow control system is required. This system used three solenoid valves to manage the air flow and also as a control on the enose dynamic model. The Odor on used two solenoids while the odor off used a solenoid. Solenoid valve which controlled by an on-off system could be fully on and fully off. The results were obtained by comparing the use of solenoid valve and solenoid valve performance results. The sensor reponse was more stable if using steam solenoid valve with ¼ inch diameter than using water solenoid valve with ½ inch diameter, it also had faster rise time result. The use of solenoid valve with ¼ inch diameter had 4 times faster speed than ½ inch solenoid valve. The result of on-off control that can respond in period of 20,50,100 ns with each rise time of 300ps, 1.5ns, 3.5ns. The performance of the solenoid valve was well and had timeliness for each data retrieval process when done.
