Corrosion is a common phenomenon in everyday life. To study the phenomenon of corrosion in laboratory scale, the spread of corrosion was observed using the optical microscope. 0.05M hydrochloric acid solution is used as a material solution corrosion and media used are varied copper metal surface roughness level. Made of copper metal surface roughness pattern of isotropc and anisotropc. Variations in the level of surface roughness of copper metal from the process of sanding paper obtained amplas with number grid 220, 320, 500, and 800. The method used is the acid solution is dripped on the surface of copper metal and seen the spread of the acid solution. Observations made since the solution was dripped until the stop solution corrodes copper metal surface. The observation shows that there are significant levels of copper metal surface roughness to the spread of the hydrochloric acid solution.
