Dual Reciprocity Boundary Element Method (DRBEM) is a numerical method for solving two-dimensional modified Helmholtz equation subject to some boundary conditions. To obtain numerical solutions of the modified Helmholtz equation, we first express solution in an integral equation. The integral equation is then reduced to a system of linear algebraic equations. To reduce the integral equation, boundary C is discretized into a number of elements and a number of interior points are chosen. Using the collocation points and known functions from boundary conditions, the boundary integral equation is reduced into a system of linear algebraic equations to obtain numerical solutions at collocation points. The solutions are used to obtain solution of arbitrary point in region. In this final project, DRBEM is used for solving an infiltration problem in periodic flat channels. This problem is governed by a Richards equation. The governing equation is then transformed into a modified Helmholtz equation, which may be solved numerically using a DRBEM. The obtained numerical solutions are used to calculate potential value of force which appear as result local interaction between soil and water (suction potential). Then, those numerical solutions are compared with those analytical solutions, to investigate accuracy of DRBEM.
