PEMBUATAN BEADS ?/?-KARAGINAN TERIMOBILISASI 1,10-FENANTROLIN UNTUK DETEKSI KOLORIMETRI Fe(II); SYNTHESIS OF ?/?-CARRAGEENAN BEADS IMMOBILIZED 1,10-PHENANTHROLINE FOR COLORIMETRIC DETECTION OF Fe(II)

Colorimetric detection of Fe(II) has been conducted using ?/?-carrageenan beads with immobilization of 1,10-phenanthroline. The aim of this study is to determine the condition of analytical methods and the ability of ?/?-carrageenan beads with immobilization of 1,10-phenanthroline for colorimetric detection of Fe(II) and to determine the interference ions. Several factors that affected the analytical performance of ?/?-carrageenan beads immobilized 1,10-phenanthroline for the detection of colorimetric such as concentration 1,10-phenanthroline, pH and time had been studied. The ability of ?/?-carrageenan beads for colorimetric detection of Fe(II) was studied by testing the parameters of validation method such as linearity, limit of detection and limit of quantification, precision, selectivity and accuracy. The ?/?-carrageenan beads immobilized 1,10-phenanthroline was applied in colorimetric of Fe(II) in some samples of ground water. The ?/?-carrageenan beads immobilized 1,10-phenanthroline after used for colorimetric detection of Fe(II) were visualized by naked eye and by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study showed a color change of ?/?-carrageenan beads from ivory to orange red. Solution of Fe(II) is set at pH 2 and the result of measurement ?/?-carrageenan beads shows linearity at 0,996, precision with %RSD less than 2% and accuracy of percentage recoveries obtained at 92-102%.. The limit detection of colorimetric response with naked eye is found at 0.2 mg L-1 and with a spectrophotometer is 0.17 mg L-1. The limit of quantification is found at 0, 57 mg L-1. The result of selectivity obtained by the color change beads ?/?-carrageenan immobilized 1,10-fenantrolin only at Fe(II). The existence of ions Co(II), Ni(II) and Mg(II) in a solution of Fe(II) decreases the color intensity of the detection results of Fe(II), while the Fe(III) increases the color intensity detection results of Fe(II).
