FABRIKASI DAN KAJIAN SIFAT KEMAGNETAN PADA NANOPARTIKEL ZINC FERRITE (ZnFe2O4) YANG DIENKAPSULASI DENGAN POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG-4000) DAN SILIKA; FABRICATION AND STUDY OF MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG-4000) AND SILICA ENCAPSULATED ZINC FERRITE (ZnFe2O4) NANOPARTICLES

2015 | Disertasi | FMIPAThe Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) magnetic nanoparticles have been successfully encapsulated by varying concentration of PEG-4000 and silica which are used as a material for encapsulation with using co-precipitation method. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis showed loss of phase ?-Fe2O3 which crystal structure is rhombohedral haracteristic of phasa ZnFe2O4 post- encapsulation by PEG-4000. ZnFe2O4’s particle size pre-unencapsulated was 8.27 ± 0.03 nm, became 6.03 ± 0.05 nm after PEG-4000 encapsulation and 14.29 ± 0.05 nm after silica encapsulation. Encapsulation of silica has showed a new diffraction peak (222) and (422) because silica is crystal. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) morphology analysis on PEG-4000 encapsulated nanoparticles showed that the particles have spherical form, more dispersive, and less aglomerated of grain size 6 nm. The result of Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) analysis showed that ZnFe2O4 (PEG-4000 encapsulation) on wavenumbers 2885.51 cm-1635.64 cm-1, 1465.90 cm-1, 1110.98 cm-1, 1149.57 cm-1, and 956.69 cm-1 which determine C-H Streching, H-C-H stretching, C=C Streching, C-H Bending, C-O Streching bond is a formed bond of PEG-4000. Magnetic material has been encapsulated by silica which is shown by wavenumber 1049.28 cm-1 in Si-O-Si bonding analysis. The magnetic properties for ZnFe2O4 by using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) showed that coersivity of ZnFe2O4 was 45.82±0.01 Oe, and then decrease after encapsulation to 42.64±0.01 Oe and 24.12±0.02 Oe for encapsulation with PEG-4000 and silica, respectively. Due to the addition concentration PEG-4000 and silica, so nanoparticles of zinc ferrite were soft magnetic. And then showed that remanence magnetic after encapsulation to 3.9 emu/g and 1.5 emu/g for encapsulation with PEG-4000 and silica, respectively.
