2015 | Disertasi | FMIPAStudy of copper and chromium leaching from coal fly on the steam power electric generator was conducted. This study aimed to determine the influence of eluent, eluent concentration, pH and continued elution of heavy metals Cu and Cr from power plant coal fly ash. This research was conducted by atomic absorption spectroscopic (AAS). Fly ash samples derived from power plant and pass 200 mesh sieves. Fly ash was dried at 105 °C for 24 hours by oven to eliminate the water content. Leaching process carried out by the eluent into the PVC column. Eluent which used were HNO3, HCl and H2SO4. Eluent concentration variation of HNO3 and HCl were from 0.5 M to 2 M while for H2SO4 were from 0.1 M to 1.5 M. Variations of pH eluent were from 1 to 14. The continued elution of Cu and Cr were using 1.75 M HNO3 and 1.5 M HNO3, respectively. The results showed that the best eluent for leached Cu and Cr was eluted by HNO3. The optimum concentration eluent to elute heavy metals from fly ash was 1.75 M HNO3 for Cu with concentration 0.56 ppm, while for heavy metal Cr was 1.5 M HNO3 with concentration 2.03 ppm. Cu showed a cationic leaching pattern and its solubility is very high at a very acidic pH. At high pH, the concentration of metals in the eluate decreased. The Cr metal showed an amphoteric leaching pattern and its solubility is high in extremely acidic conditions or very alkaline. The Cr can be eluted in continued elution is 8.70% by 1.5 M HNO3 while Cu is 9.16% by 1.75 M HNO3
