ANALISA DATA WELL LOGGING UNTUK ESTIMASI KUALITAS DAN KUANTITAS BATUBARA PADA CEKUNGAN KUTAI, KALIMANTAN TIMUR; WELL LOGGING DATA ANALYSIS FOR COAL QUALITY AND QUANTITY ESTIMATION IN KUTAI BASIN, EAST KALIMANTAN

Well logging method has been conducted in Manumbar Formation, Kutai Basin, East Kalimantan. Generaly well logging method is only used to determine lithology, thickness and coal boundary. This research aim’s to develop well logging application in coal exploration, specially for coal quantity and quality. Well logging method is a method in measuring sub - surface rock physical parameters in drilled hole. It use two types of well logging, such as the combination of gamma ray log and density log. The physical parameters from well logging interpretation produce the formulations from crossplot between coal quality from laboratorium test (calorific value and ash contain) and well logging parameters (density and Vsh), the formulations are CV = 1106,8? + 2878 and Ash = 1,118 Vsh + 2,0287. Coal quality map in research area has been made from these formulations. Well logging interpretation produced coal thickness used to calculate coal reserved indication. The results of well logging analysis is total reserved coal which is indicated about 42.674.384 ton, the highest reserved coal is seam 3 with reserved coal about 6.059.113 ton. The best quality and the worst quality are defined from quality analysis. The best quality is seam 4 with average of calorific value about 4868 kcal/kg and the worst quality is seam 10 with average of calorific value about 4523,15 kcal/kg, type all of coal seams are sub-bituminous .
