PURWARUPA EFEK DISTORSI DIGITAL PADA GITAR ELEKTRIK BERBASIS MIKROPROSESOR PROTOTYPE OF MICROPROCESSOR BASED DIGITAL DISTORTION EFFECT ON ELECTRIC GUITAR

In this project, a prototype of dsPIC30F4013 microprocessor based effect board as an addition to the electronic part of the electric guitar has been designed and made. The effect board divided into three main parts, such as minimum system, line in, and line out. The guitar signal fed into line in and amplified, then the amplified signal is converted into digital signal to be processed by microprocessor. The processed signal, in form of I2S serial data, fed into line out to be converted back into analog signal, resulting output signal with the distortion effect. The distortion effect is processed using exponential distortion algorithm. The result from this project is electric guitar able to perform distortion signal processing without adding external module, eventhough the processed signal still not corresponding to the reference. The exponential distortion algorithm implementation is not so efficient causing 138,199 millisecond time delay to the processed signal. The effect board response has 2,91% error without distortion effect processing.
