SINTESIS CHEMOSENSOR 4-HIDROKSI-3-METOKSI-5-(O-NITROFENILDIAZENIL)BENZALDEHIDA DARI VANILIN; CHEMOSENSOR SYNTHESIS OF 4-HYDROXY-3-METHOXY-5-(O-NITROPHENYLDIAZENYL)BENZALDEHYDE FROM VANILLIN

2015 | Skripsi | FMIPASynthesis of azo compound derivatives 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyldiazenyl)benzaldehyde from vanillin as chemosensors has been carried out. The 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyldiazenyl)benzaldehyde was produced by reacting of o-nitrobenzene-diazonium salt with vanillin in sodium hydroxide solution and gave 49.79% yield. Chemosensor tests were conducted by observing the color changes occurring in 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyldiazenyl)benzaldehyde compound solution as the effect of pH solution, specific anions and some other base compounds. The result tests showed that 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyl-diazenil)benzaldehyde could be used as indicator titration of weak acid-strong base, sensor for cyanide, fluoride, carbonate and sensor for sulfur and amine base compound derivatives. Chemosensor test also showed that nitro group in orto position gave differences result with nitro group in para position. Orto position in 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyldiazenyl)benzaldehyde compound gave color changes in pH 8-9. The 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-(o-nitrophenyldiazenyl)-benzaldehyde compound could detect fluoride and cyanide anion with detection limit of 50 ppm and 1 ppm.
