TOKSISITAS Cu(II) TERHADAP MIKROALGA LAUT, Pavlova sp. DAN PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP KLOROFIL-a; TOXICITY OF Cu(II) TO MARINE MICROALGAE, Pavlova sp. AND ITS EFFECT ON CHLOROPHYLL-a

2015 | Skripsi | FMIPAon chlorophyll-a has been performed. This research was conducted to find out IC50 value of Cu(II) ions on the growth of microalgae Pavlova sp., to study the morphological respons of microalgae Pavlova sp. on Cu(II) ions exposure, to find out the Cu(II) solubility in seawater, to see the effect of Cu(II) ions concentration variation on the growth and the amount of chlorophyll-a in microalgae Pavlova sp.. This research was conducted through several steps i.e: Cu(II) toxicity test based on standard method from Asean Canada Cooperative Program on Marine Science (ACCPMS) (1995), photo-microscopic characterization, chlorophyll-a test using Flourometer Turner Trilogy type AU-10, and the concentration test of free Cu2+ in solution using Spectrophotometer Visible. The result showed that IC50 of Cu(II) ions on the microalgae Pavlova sp. is 51.46 ?g/L. The more Cu(II) ions is exposed to the microalgae Pavlova sp., the more obstacles to the growth of the microalgae Pavlova sp.. There are changes on microalgae Pavlova sp. cell morphology when it is exposed to Cu(II) ions. The changes involve the cell wall deformation and the cells tendency to form colony among each other. Concentration of Cu2+ in seawater (pH 7-8) is lower than concentration of Cu2+ in freshwater. Chlorophyll-a concentration in microalgae Pavlova sp. decreases as the exposed concentration of Cu(II) ions is raises.
