2015 | Skripsi | FMIPAAn investigation of the influences of pore size of wire-mesh regenerator and the length of connecting pipe between loop-tube and loudspeaker on the cooling performance of a travelling-wave termoacoustic refrigerator has been done. In this experiment, the heat transfer process was carried out by traveling sound wave in order to know the influences of regenerator’s pore size and connecting-pipe’s length as the indicators of refrigeration performance of the thermoacoustic refrigerator. The looped-tube was made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipes with inner diameter of 54.5 mm. A loudspeaker was used as sound wave generator with input power of 60Wand connected to the looped tube by using a straight PVC pipe with varied length from 15 cm to 47 cm. A regenerator, composed of many stainless-steel wire-mesh screens, was installed inside the looped tube. Mesh number (#n) is varied of #25, #30, #40, and #50, and the length of the connecting pipe is also varied from 3 cm to 6 cm so that it can be determined the mesh number, the regenerator length, and the length of the connecting pipe which are all optimally condition (the coolest at cool side and the hottest at hot side). As a result, the largest temperature decrease of around 9.3?0.6?C was achieved by using #50 mesh number’s, 6 cm regenerator’s length, and 47 cm connecting-pipe length’s combination.
